In response to poor maternal and newborn outcomes in Tanzania linked to poor quality of care, the QUADS intervention is being carried out in four districts in southern Tanzania from 2015-2020. To support QUADA “Increasing understanding of and policy engagement with the quality of maternal and newborn care at the district level in southern Tanzania, synergy project is being proposed here. QUADS is quality improvement project which engage stakeholders at the community , health facility and district level to identify context specific problems linked to provide quality maternal and new born health care, and then creating strategies to address these problems. A gap exist however, in understanding quality of care scaling up quality of improvement strategies. The proposed project therefore, has three aims 1. To establish a novel electronic tool to measure a quality of care that will be designed for integration into health management information system 2. To use data from this tool to empower quality improvement process at district level and health facility level and 3. To develop scalable change packages that could be used by stakeholder at different levels to improve maternal and new born health. This project will increase capacity among health facility staff and decision makers to analyse and use of data, bridging of the “know-do” in improving quality of maternal and new born care.
